The tight-knit community of Clyde is in a state of deep mourning following a tragic accident on the afternoon of February 1, 2026. Officials have confirmed that a collision between a vehicle and a train at the railroad crossing near County Road 243 and FM 18 claimed the lives of two beloved Clyde High School students, 18-year-old Brileigh Dailey and her 16-year-old brother, Kyler Dailey.
A Life of Spirit and Strength
Brileigh Dailey was a cornerstone of the Clyde High School spirit. A dedicated athlete, Brileigh had been cheering for Clyde for six years, a passion that began the moment she could walk. As a primary base on the cheer squad, she was known for her literal and figurative strength, anchoring her teammates with a steady hand and a “sassy attitude” that friends say made the world brighter.
Her talent was recognized far beyond the borders of Callahan County. Brileigh was a decorated UCA All-American, earning the prestigious title in 2021, 2022, and 2023. To Brileigh, cheerleading was more than a sport; it was a way to connect with her community and express her infectious joy.
“To Know Her Was to Love Her”
In the wake of the tragedy, tributes have poured in from friends, teachers, and family members. Brileigh is remembered for a smile that could light up a dugout and a personality that naturally drew people in. Her brother, Kyler, was equally cherished for his “goofiness” and the lighthearted energy he brought to the halls of Clyde High School.
“She always knew how to make you smile,” shared a close friend. “Rest easy, sweet friend.”
A Community United in Grief
The loss has sent shockwaves through the Clyde Consolidated Independent School District. In response, the district opened the high school cafeteria to students, families, and staff seeking comfort and counseling. Teachers have expressed the deep bond they feel with their students, noting that those who sat in their classrooms “will forever be one of our kids.”
The Dailey family and the Clyde community now face an unimaginable void. As the community gathers to support the families of Brileigh and Kyler, they are asking for continued prayers for peace, strength, and comfort.
